David Moyes has hit back at the powers that be atManchester United
claiming he was betrayed.
The Scottish tactician who is currently in charge of Real Sociedad, says his approach at Old Trafford would’ve been different had he known his job was under immediate threat.
Moyes signed six year contract at
United to replace Sir Alex Ferguson but was sacked just ten months into his
tenure as Red Devils’ boss after a series of disappointing results.
Moyes told The People:
"I still believe I was the right person for the job but if you don't get
the time it's very difficult to work.
"Taking over from Sir Alex was
never going to be easy. Looking back I think everyone is aware that it was a
rebuilding job, a job that was going to take time. It could not be done
immediately, and I signed a six-year contract, not a nine-month contract.
"If I'd signed a nine-month
contract then I might have done things slightly differently. But I'd signed a
six-year deal which meant we'd take things easy and not change things that Sir
Alex had done for so many years."
United are currently under the
tutelage of Dutch tactician Louis Van Gaal.
