The French international spanned a
host of glorious chances in Arsenal’s 3-1 Champions League last 16 first leg
defeat to Monaco on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium.
The defeat left Arsenal staring at
another Champions League exit at the knock out stage.
However, Wenger gave Giroud the nod
in the Premier League clash against Everton on Sundayand the 28-year old
did not disappoint as he scored to lead the Gunners to 2-0 victory which moved
them to third place in the Premier League.
Giroud told reporters: "Arsene
Wenger gave me the chance to bounce back.
"We wanted to do that together
and I think we did well this afternoon. We will take things step by step. We
just want to focus on our games, to keep doing what we are doing."
On his part, Wenger maintained Giroud
was just unlucky against Monaco.
The 65-year old told BBC
Sport: "I defended Olivier Giroud because nobody misses
chances on purpose. Everyone misses chances and even if strikers don't score if
you finish 0-0 it is still a good result.
