Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on play maker Philippe Coutinho following his heroics in their 2-1 FA Cup fourth round win over Bolton Wonderers on Wednesday night.
The Reds were staring at a shock FA
Cup exit as they trailed with five minutes to play but quick fire strikes from
Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho’s wonder strike turned the game on its
head.
Rodgers believes the Brazilian is
becoming as influential as Uruguay hit-man Luis Suarez who joined Barcelona
last summer.
He told reporters: "He will
become world class in the next couple of years.
“Luis Suarez was at a level then he
played in this team and grew and grew with the model and went into the
world-class bracket and I can see Coutinho falling in the same sort of way.
"He might not be as prolific as
Suarez was but he is certainly on the way to that. He is a wonderful, wonderful
player. Signing a new deal shows he is really committed to Liverpool and his
development."
The 22-year old signed a new deal at
Anfield until 2020.
Liverpool face Crystal palace in the
fifth round of the famous competition.
