Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has been charged by the FA over remarks he made after his charges were held to a barren draw by Cambridge United in the FA Cup last month.
The Red Devils were held to a 0-0
draw by the League Two outfit on January 23, forcing a replay that United won
comfortably 3-0.
After the stalemate at the Abbey
Stadium, the 63-year old told reporters: "Every aspect of the match is
against us - the pitch, the referee. Everything that you can think about
this is against you."
These comments have been deemed
to bring the game into disrepute and Van Gaal has until 6pm on Monday to
respond to the charge.
Statement from FA: "Louis van
Gaal has been charged by The FA for media comments he made after Manchester
United’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Cambridge United on Friday 23
January 2015.
"It is alleged that the
Manchester United manager’s comments allege and/or imply bias on the part of
the match referee and/or bring the game into disrepute.
"He has until 6pm on Monday
9 February 2015 to respond to the charge."
United face Preston North End
in the fifth round of the competition.
