Veteran Chelsea defender John Terry has called on the club's hierarchy
to offer him a new deal claiming he is not ready to leave Stamford Bridge just
yet.
The 34-year old’s contract with the
Blues runs out at the end of the season and has ruled out the possibility of
playing for another club.
Terry told BBC Sport:
"If this is my last year then I hope it goes out on a bang, but I am
feeling great at the minute and it would be the wrong time to go.
"No, [I wouldn't play for
another club] and I also think there's a right time to go as well. I have my
little target to play next year but beyond that, two or three years, I don't
know."
Meanwhile, Liverpool great Jamie
Carragher has warned that Chelsea will struggle to replace Terry when he
decides to call time on his career.
Carragher wrote in the Daily
Mail: "John Terry is going to cause Chelsea a huge problem in the
future and the cost to fix it will be enormous.
"There will come a point one day
when Jose Mourinho is no longer able to rely on his captain and, privately, he
will be dreading when that time comes. The term to describe Terry's influence
on this Chelsea team is the same as the one you would label his performance at
Wembley: colossal."
"When you think Manchester City
paid £32m for Eliaquim Mangala last summer and David Luiz cost Paris Saint-Germain
£50m, you get an idea of how difficult it will be to find someone with Terry's
many qualities."
Terry has won 15 major trophies at
Chelsea, including a Champions League and three Premier League titles.
